Horizon Quantum Computing

Director of Business Operations

Operations - Dublin, Dublin, Ireland - Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Operations to consistently convert company priorities into efficient, high-quality output. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of the company and ensure the company is managed and performing both efficiently and effectively. As we grow, you will scale our systems and processes across our Ireland and Singapore offices, working closely with all teams and ensuring business resilience.

Quantum computing is a rapidly growing field that is both complex and intricate. You don't need to be an expert in quantum computing to work with us, but if you're curious, eager to learn, and passionate about tackling challenging projects in an exciting, evolving field, then this role might be perfect for you.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily company activities and procedures. You’ll translate leadership goals into repeatable and scalable workflows, ensuring our teams stay on track and on budget.
  • Own the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of the company’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) frameworks (ISO 22301 aligned). Maintain the Corporate Risk Register and Health & Safety programs to ensure audit-readiness.
  • Facilitate and drive the company-wide goal-setting and execution framework (OKRs or equivalent), translating company targets into actionable and measurable team outputs.
  • Architect, deploy and enforce company-wide SOPs and operational policies from end-to-end—ensuring they meet governance requirements while remaining frictionless for technical teams.
  • Serve as the operational bridge to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, translating data privacy (PDPA/GDPR) and export controls into business workflows.
  • Lead the operational side of external programs and industry body affiliations—coordinating documentation, managing deliverables and consolidating inputs from each of the different teams.
  • Implement initiatives that build a structured, high-performance work environment across all offices, managing non-technical milestones such as physical expansions or entity setups.
  • Define, implement, and iterate company policies and SOPs that don’t just meet compliance standards but actually make life better for our technical teams.
  • Constantly evaluate productivity and efficiency. You’ll analyze our operational spend and internal systems to recommend and implement improvements.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in Business Operations, Management Consulting, or GRC within high-growth deep-tech or SaaS.
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar, ISO 22301 certification, or verifiable formal training and operational ownership of ISO 22301-aligned BCDR frameworks.
  • Practical experience with GDPR/PDPA and a working knowledge of international export controls.
  • A track record of delivering complex, non-technical projects (entity setups, grant applications, or office expansions) on time and under budget.
  • Proven track record of leading company-wide OKR (or equivalent) planning, tracking and execution cycles to align cross-functional priorities.
  • A minimum of 10 years of management experience managing diverse teams and operations.
  • You aren't a developer, but you understand the SDLC and can communicate effectively with PhD-level researchers and senior engineers.
  • Demonstrable experience taking a company-level policy through its complete lifecycle—from initial gap analysis and drafting to cross-functional rollout, training and ongoing auditing.
  • A high degree of technical literacy and an ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Bachelor’s in Business, Law, Engineering or a related field. PMP, CIPP, or similar certifications are a major plus.

Desirable Experience

  • Direct operational experience supporting or preparing an organization for an ISO 27001 or SOC 2 Type II audit.
  • Experience managing operations across distributed, multi-time-zone environments (eg. follow-the-sun operational models).
  • High degree of technical literacy (knowledge of the SDLC, developer tooling, and modern SaaS stacks like Notion, Jira, Power BI).
